The 18th National Juried Show
By Carole McCarville
Past President

The NJS was held at Algonquin College, Ottawa, Ontario in conjunction with the 2006 Quilt Canada conference from May 23rd to 27th . Ninety-three pieces were juried into the show. In late February, the Jury Coordinator, Bonny Voice met with the 3 jurors; Barb Dawson, Linda Landine and Lynn Underwood to make the selections to be shown at this years’ show. In May, these juried entries arrived in Ottawa and under the guidance of the local NJS Coordinator, Leslie Mills, our three judges, Valerie Hearder, Margie Davidson and Sharon Pederson, completed the task of selecting this years award winning entries.

On the evening of May 23rd, it was my pleasure to announce the awards at the National Juried Show Gala Reception and Opening with the assistance of Karen Menzies, our new President, who presented the awards to those in attendance

Congratulations to all of the participants whose pieces were selected to hang in this show and to all of the award winners. The colour catalogue, included with the Autumn issue of The Canadian Quilter, will include all of the entries. The catalogue also lists the sponsors for each award and we thank our sponsors for their continued support of this event and of CQA/ACC.

We also wish to extend a special thank-you to all who were involved in this years’ National Juried Show, from our jurors to the local volunteers who assisted during the judging and hanging process.

At this time I would like to extend an invitation to our members to join us in May 2007 in Kamloops, BC for Quilt BC 2007and the 19th National Juried Show.
