2006 CQA/ACC Trend-Tex Quilter’s Challenge ![]() We would like to thank all the CQA/ACC members who participated, both by purchasing kits and by putting time and talent into making a wallquilt and donating it to CQA/ACC. Your support and participation are essential to the continuing success of the Quilters’ Challenge. We are proud to display your efforts for all to enjoy. This year’s theme was Still Quilting After All These Years. There were 3 special groupings of wallquilts displayed among the challenges: by the current Board of Directors, by the current Regional Representatives, and by former Presidents. This year 129 wallquilts were returned, a new record. Congratulations to our members who completed their works and contributed to an outstanding display of colour, style, technique and commitment to the association. Wallquilts were judged by the following panel: Kay Phillips - Ajax, ON, is a charter member of CQA/ACC. She was president in 1984-85, Teacher of the Year 1992, and Dorothy McMurdrie Award winner 1993 Martha Brown - Pickering, ON, is a fibre artist, and winner of Best of Show and Viewer’s Choice awards at the 2005 National Juried Show. Bill Fitches - Oshawa, ON, is a graduate of Ontario College of Art and an art educator. Currently Bill is doing commissioned work on liturgical garments. Thanks to these three judges who gave of their expertise and their time to view and choose this year’s winners. The prize winners were announced at the CQA/ACC Annual General Meeting on May 23, 2006.
