By Karen Menzies, President The NJS was held at Forster’s Conference Centre, Kamloops, BC, in conjuntion with Quilt BC 2007, from May 3rd to 5th . Sixty-seven pieces were juried into the show. In late February, the Jury Coordinator, Leslie Mills met with the 3 jurors; Joanne Batchelor, Georgia Beale, and Margaret Dunsmore to make the selections to be shown at this years’ show. In April, these juried entries arrived in Kamloops and under the guidance of the local NJS Coordinator, Vicki Gray, our three judges, Jayne Willoughby Scott, John Willard, and Sheila Wintle completed the task of selecting this years award winning entries. On the evening of May 2rd, it was my pleasure to present the awards at the National Juried Show Reception and Opening with the assistance of Joyce O’Connell, Secretary/Publicist. Congratulations to all of the participants whose pieces were selected to hang in this show and to all of the award winners. The colour catalogue, included with the Autumn issue of The Canadian Quilter, will include all of the entries. The catalogue also lists the sponsors for each award and we thank our sponsors for their continued support of this event and of CQA/ACC. We also wish to extend a special thank-you to all who were involved in this years’ National Juried Show, from our jurors to the local volunteers who assisted during the judging and hanging process. At this time I would like to extend an invitation to our members to join us in June 2008 in St. John’s, NL, for Quilt Canada 2008and the 20th National Juried Show.
