2010 National Juried Show
The 22nd National Juried Show
By Johanna Alford,
President
The 2010 National Juried Show was exhibited at the TELUS Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta, in conjunction with Quilt Canada, from April 28 to May 1, 2010. Ninety-two outstanding pieces were juried into the show. In late January, Jury Coordinator Nancy Trowbridge met with the three jurors, Heather Stewart, Jim Wilford, and Georgeanne Welsh to make the selections for this year's show. In April, the juried entries arrived in Calgary and under the guidance of the the local NJS Coordinator, Betty Bailey. Our three judges: Lily Lam, Susan Purney Mark and Bonnie Voice completed the task of choosing this year's award winning entries.
On the evening of April 27, 2010, it was my pleasure to present the awards at the National Juried Show Awards Presentation at the TELUS Convention Centre, with the assistance of the Board of Directors.
Congratulations to all of the participants whose pieces were selected to hang in this show and to all of the award winners. The colour catalogue, included with the autumn issue of The Canadian Quilter, will display all of the entries accepted into the 2010 NJS. The catalogue also lists the sponsors for each award and we give a special thank you to those sponsors for their continued support of this event and of CQA/ACC.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I also wish to give a special thank-you to all involved in this years' National Juried Show, beginning with the jurors and extending to the local volunteers who assisted during the judging and hanging process.
At this time I would like to extend an invitation to our members to join us in May 2011 in London, Ontario at the 23nd National Juried Show.
