Irene, who has quilted for twenty years, loves to make quilts for her children and other family members. The pattern was designed by Kristen C. Steiner and in the book ‘At Piece with Time – A Woman’s Journey Stitched in Cloth.

She also received $150 plus a sewing machine donated by Haus of Stitches in Humboldt, SK. Size 80”x102”. Kristen was inspired after seeing a postage stamp quilt and was intrigued by this technique. The border is original. Hand appliquéd with ultra suede embellishment and hand quilting. The many hours of challenging work produced a well loved piece of art.

This quilt is a wall hanging for Paula’s entertainment room, which is decorated in purple, grey and black. The design is original, based on photographs of Ribbon Bargello quilts. She used photography to design the placement of the strips. Paula quilted on her long arm using metallic thread with Sally Terry’s ‘Hooked on Feathers’ technique. The interior of the quilt is beaded to create an impression of stardust.

When I saw the fabric, I knew I had to make it into this quilt”. This traditional colour wash Irish Chain was made in a class taught by Lydia Froehler. The quilt was quilted by Geri Smit on a long arm machine.
