A Silver Lining

I saw this quilt online (Cheryl's Quilt Shop, Kentucky) and fell in love with it! I had it three years before I started to do it, then I figured I must be nuts! When I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure I got at it again and took a block with me to each Dr.'s appointment and finally finished it! It certainly has been my "silver lining!"

Who I Am

This quilt was made for a self-portrait challenge in the Quilted Mouse Guild. Images have been. Outlines from photos of people and things important in my life were traced onto water soluble stabilizer and then used to quilt on cotton fabrics. the tatting on the pocket of the cloak was done by my grandmother. A tiny fabric photo album is in the pocket. This wall hanging was inspired by a quilt by Alice M. Beasley titled 'Miles Ahead' which appeared in the exhibit, Texural Rhythms: Quilting the Jazz Tradition

Bed of Roses

The quilt took me 5 years to complete as I just worked on it off and on in-between other projects. I had always wanted to do a Baltimore Album style of quilt with a single flower theme. "Bed of Roses" is a LARGE king size, with 25 different rose pattern squares, 12 are from the Rose Sampler pattern and the rest are ones that I found in various quilt pattern books. I selected all the fabrics. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted.

Two blocks are original. The remaining blocks have been adapted from designs by Elly Sienkiewicz.
