Joanne Reagh
The Rose of Sharon

I appliqued this quilt while recovering from knee surgery. The needle turned applique took 7 months to complete and when I had finished it, I knew it needed to have some special quilting on it and so I asked my friend, Barbara Bettles if she would long arm custom quilt it for me. I was thrilled at how stunning it turned out.

Lynda Wadden
Autumn Pumpkin

Autumn Pumpkin was based on a pattern called Patchwork Pumpkin by Crabapple Hill. She found the pattern in a quilt shop while in Maine last year and just had to make it. Lynda noted that from the picture on the pattern the pumpkin looked considerably smaller than it turned out to be. Once she started embroidering the first panel, she realized it was going to be BIG but "in for a penny in for a pound of pumpkin". It was a fun project since it involved embroidery, paper piecing, patchwork and felted wool. Lynda added crazy quilting to the patchwork panel to give more texture. The bonus is it looks great on her pine harvest table

Cindy Bergeron
I Love My Daughter

When Cindy's daughter found a pattern for a 36" wall hanging, she told her mother, "this is what I want for my high school graduation quilt. You can make it bigger, and in another colour. Mom, you can do it!"
After many challenging hours of redesigning, paper piecing the diamonds and together designing borders, then custom quilting it is finally finished!!! Was it in time for her graduation? NOPE!! She is now 23.
The name comes from my mantra while working on this quilt, "I love my daughter. I love my daughter. I love my daughter.....)

In order to share my passion, I asked my sister Julie Delage to collaborate in realizing our Guild 'Les Fées de la Montagne' 2014 Musical Theme requirement. Julie sought permission from Artist Painter Hanne Lore Koehler to reproduce her magnificent hand-painted piece of art (oïl on canvas) 'With Passion'. With complicity, perseverance and determination we assembled this quilt. Claire had to use pencils and ink to give it more realism. It was a great challenge and we are very proud of his wall hanging of the Lady at the Piano.

Christine Goedhuis
A Feathered Affair

A Feathered Affair
From the time I saw this Block of the Month on the Internet -- free pattern! -- it consumed my life ... hence the name A Feathered Affair.
The blocks are hand appliquéd, and embellished with hand embroidery, including French knots and bullion stitch. Some of the birds (the flirty ones) even have eyelashes. Hand quilting finished the process.
In 2013, I was honoured to have the quilt accepted into the World Quilt Show, which toured several venues across the US.

Anne House
Red & White Challenge Quilt

This quilt was made for a Guild challenge to make a bed sized quilt with at least three different stars with points. I started with Carol Doak's 12" stars for the middle border, added 3" sashing stars from Deb Tucker's Lemoyne star ruler. Then designed the centre panel and finished with the triangle corner blocks. It is machine pieced and hand stitched by myself. There are 64 red fabrics and 40 light background fabrics. Thanks to our long winter I was able to finish the quilt in 5 months.

Awarded: July 12, 2014
Winner: Best in Show
