For many years I have sewn and have owned my own business. Now I have gone into a new direction. In September 2009, I completed a teacher's certification course with Jodi Barrows and her "Square in a Square" techniques. I was hooked. It has become a new way of sewing. My goal is to teach as many people as I can through quilt shops and guilds. I have just finished designing a new pattern, "The Workshop Tote" which I embellished with "SNS" options.

Currently enjoying quilting in the Waterloo Region, Kathy began in Quebec in the 1970s. Always expecting to return to the high school mathematics classroom where she taught BC (before children), she found herself drawn to the quilters’ classroom. Kathy particularly enjoys playing with colour and reinventing traditional patterns. She insists that quilts are a combination of mathematics and colour!
When Kathy is not teaching, she may be working on the Quilt Judge Certification Programme or the Grand National (www.grandnationalquiltshow.ca).
Kathy’s was honoured with the 2009 K/W Community Arts Award for Textiles, Fibre and Quilting and in 1998 with the CQA/ACC Dorothy McMurdie Award.

Art and textiles has evolved into a lifelong pursuit of seeking out creative projects and in sharing this joy with others. My ideas are ever evolving. My art quilts have been juried into a number of art societies.
Certification as a CQA/ACC Judge expanded my knowledge and quality of work while allowing me the chance to encourage others through positive feedback.
For 30 years ago I have taught all levels of sewing and quilting.
My main objective in teaching is to share my passion and help people reach their potential and goals.
Pattern designing has evolved as I explore my own ideas.
